As a result, these private messages would no longer have the140-character limit that refers to tweets.
Sachin Agarwal, the product manager, said in a blog post that Thou can now chat on and on in a single Direct Message, &likely still have some characters left over.
Agarwal further added when Twitter is largely the public experience; Direct Messages let you have the private conversations about memes, news, movements & events that unfold on the Twitter.
Today’s change is an another big step towards making a private side of the Twitter even more potent and fun.
For now, changes apply to the Twitter users with Android & Apple mobile devices, online at twitter.com or on TweetDeck application, though Agarwal said the change would continue to roll out worldwide over next few weeks. Limits would still apply to those sending messages over the SMS.
The move comes as California company is seeing inactive growth in its user base compared to the other social networks & faces renewed pressure on its shares as it seeks the new chief, executive.
Twitter shares were down to 1.3 percent in midday trade, having recovered from the last week when they transferred to the lowest level since the company’s stock market debut in late 2013.
